Tommy

Tommy is a baladi ( Egyptian street dog). We think he is between 1-2 years old.

We found Tommy with a rope/plastic embedded into his neck. When Tommy was a puppy, he must have had some kind of collar put on him, and then when he grew the collar just never came off. It became embedded into his neck, causing severe swelling and infection.

Tommys salivary glands were damaged causing nose bleeds, and if he’d been left any longer, Tommy would have died from suffocation.

Tommy loves his humans, and he’s very affectionate and playful. He can become over-stimulated very easily and still thinks he is a puppy, though. He does play with his mouth like a puppy.

He walks well on a lead, and he’s very loving. He loves attention. Being a baladi, Tommy is also super clever.

Update January 2026:

Due to Tommy’s health issues, he’s unable to travel. He is carefully watched over and enjoys playing with his doggy friends. He has a beautiful friendship with Kali.
