Boika

Boika was rescued from a seriously neglectful owner. He was an older gentleman who suffered a lot. When we rescued him, he had a burst tumour on his ear and had been left without treatment for a very long time. Instead of the owner seeking veterinary treatment, they put a cone on him and thought that would be enough. He also arrived weighing just 13kg!

The vet described Boika as being completely starved and how Boika was even alive is a miracle. His name means warrior.

By the time Boika was rescued, he had sepsis and his fate was unknown. Thankfully, due to the vet’s commitment and care, Boika overcome the sepsis, but the ear tumours could not be cured.

Boika also showed signs he was beaten. This came as no surprise – he was especially wary of men. At first, Boika was a little aggressive, but he soon learned there was no need to be afraid. He loved his walks, sniffing the grass, stealing treats.

Boika spent his final months at the farm, experiencing love and enjoying time with the other dogs. He slipped away on 30 July 2025.
