Cassie was rescued from the black market with a huge mammary tumour. She was in a really awful condition–she was also emaciated and dehydrated with blood parasites and anaemia. Her lab results came back terrible.
Cassie finally gained enough strength to go through surgery, and the tumour weighed the same as a bag of sugar! The poor girl had been carrying this weight around for such a long time. The surgery took four hours, and as you can imagine, it was a very difficult procedure. The vet slept in the clinic with her for several days afterwards to monitor her and make sure she was recovering okay.
Sadly, Cassie’s health issues were too much for her to overcome, and she passed away in the summer of 2025.
We’re happy we were able to show her love in her last days, but also immensely sad that she was ever allowed to get into this condition.
