Nile

This beautiful boy was found in 2024, defenseless and broken one night on the streets of Egypt, being attacked by a pack of other dogs. It was immediately evident that he had been this way for quite some time.

Heartbroken at the sight, we decided to get him to the vet who confirmed our suspicions; poor Nile had most likely been hit by a car and left. He was badly emaciated and dehydrated as he could not look for food or water.

Nile had currently has hip dislocations and leg fractures which need surgery. He’d learned to live with his fractures – although in severe pain, he still tried to use his legs. It was clear Nile had never experienced love or kindness. He was petrified of hands or any kind of handling. Catching him and putting him in the car was a challenge.

The vet his hopeful that Nile will walk again. Nile is currently in medical boarding and is expected to remain there until the end of the year at least.

Update July 2025

Nile has walked the long road to recovery, and he’s ready to find a home! He’s finally learned to trust people, and even discovered he likes a cuddle.

Update August 2025

August brought the best news and then the worst news. Nile found a sanctuary space in England, and he was booked to travel in September. We were so looking forward to him feeling the grass beneath his feet and having the best life.

Then we got a call from the vet. Poor Nile had suffered from bloat, and despite being rushed straight to the operating theatre, he slipped away 💔
